If you're looking for a true local experience in Bangkok-far from the usual tourist crowds-Srinagarindra Train Night Market (also known as Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin) is a must. This sprawling market on Srinagarindra Road is known for its vintage charm, vibrant atmosphere, and some of the best and cheapest street food in the city. We spent an evening eating our way through the market, and here’s everything you need to know if you want to do the same.
What is Srinagarindra Train Night Market?
Srinagarindra Train Night Market is one of Bangkok’s most iconic night markets. Unlike other markets that cater mostly to tourists, this one is popular with locals-especially young Thais and families. It’s a mix of everything: endless food stalls, vintage shops, secondhand clothes, retro cars, antique collectibles, and open-air bars with live music. The vibe is relaxed and fun, with a nostalgic twist that makes it stand out from the more commercial night markets in Bangkok.
Where is it and How to Get There
The market is located behind Seacon Square, a massive local mall on Srinagarindra Road. The easiest way to get there is by Grab or Bolt. We took a Bolt ride from our condo, which cost us 115 baht ($3.16 USD) to the market and 97 baht ($2.67 USD) on the way back. If you arrive early, you can explore Seacon Square before heading into the night market. It's air-conditioned and has lots of shops, making it a great place to cool off if needed.
How It Works: The Food Experience
The food here is unbeatable-affordable, delicious, and incredibly varied. One of the coolest food experiences was the DIY grilled skewers. Chicken and fish skewers were just 10 baht each (around $0.27 USD). You pick your raw meat, hand it over to the grill station, and return at your assigned time to pick up the freshly grilled goodies. The flavor? Smoky, juicy, and absolutely worth the wait.
We also tried a bunch of street snacks and drinks:
-
Tanghulu (candied fruit) – We chose a grape and strawberry combo. Sweet, crunchy, and only 20 baht (~$0.55 USD).
-
Coconut smoothie – Refreshing and tropical for 55 baht (~$1.51 USD).
-
Strawberry soda – Made with soda water and flavored syrup. Light and fizzy, 25 baht (~$0.69 USD).
-
Korean mozzarella corn dog – Since the hot dog version was sold out, we got the cheese-only one. It was deep-fried, crispy on the outside, gooey inside, and topped with mayo, mustard, and ketchup. Price: 60 baht (~$1.65 USD).
-
Taiwan sweet potato balls – Golden, fluffy, and addictively chewy for 40 baht (~$1.10 USD).
-
Milo Volcano – A decadent iced drink topped with Milo powder, thick and chocolatey, for 55 baht (~$1.51 USD).
-
Hokkaido milk soft serve – Smooth, creamy, and only 19 baht (~$0.52 USD). Perfect way to cool down after all that walking and eating.
More Than Just Food
What makes Srinagarindra Train Night Market truly unique isn’t just the food. It’s the atmosphere. Picture rows of vintage cars, old-school record players, neon signs, antique furniture, and quirky secondhand finds. You’ll also hear live music floating through the air from the open-air bars. It’s the kind of place where you can shop, eat, drink, and hang out for hours without feeling rushed.
When to Go
The market is open Thursday through Sunday, from late afternoon until midnight. The best time to arrive is after 7 p.m., when the stalls are fully set up and the market is buzzing with energy. It can get busy, especially on weekends, but it rarely feels overwhelming thanks to its massive layout.
Final Thoughts
Srinagarindra Train Night Market is a Bangkok essential. Whether you're a foodie, a vintage lover, or just want a chill place to spend the evening, this market delivers. It offers a slice of real Bangkok life-affordable, flavorful, and full of character. Come hungry, wear comfy shoes, and get ready to explore.
If you're building your Bangkok bucket list, this one deserves a top spot.
